Online Pastor Rodney Hamilton arrested for death of 3-year-old girl

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -A Gwinnett County man was arrested Thursday and charged with murder after 3-year child.

Police arrested Rodney Hamilton. Investigators said that the little girl, 3-year-old Tamaya Hamilton, was his niece. Police said that he recently adopted her, and she was living in Lawrenceville with the family.

Police said that back in January he took this little girl to Gwinnett Medical Center who flew her out to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta where she ultimately died.

Police worked closely with the medical examiner's office to determine exactly what happened to the child. The Gwinnett County Medical Examiner ruled the case a homicide with the cause of death has been listed as a subdural hematoma.

“The doctor is not able to pinpoint exactly what caused it, but that's her ruling. She feels that it was as a result of an accident from another person,” said Cpl. Deon Washington.

Cpl. Washington said investigators spoke to the man back in January and again Thursday, when he was charged. They say he could not offer any explanation for what happened to the little girl.

He said that the man describes himself as a pastor who has an online ministry but not a brick and mortar church.
