The power and authority of the believer - Spiritual authority in the bible by Bishop Duncan Williams

"And Jesus came and spake unto them
saying, All power is given unto me in heaven
and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach
all nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and,
lo, I am with you always, even unto the end
of the world. Amen." (Matthew 28:18-20).
For the next few days, we are going to study and
operate m the authority that is vested in us as
believers in Christ Jesus.
Recently while driving through the streets of
Accra, my vehicle was stopped by a very young
and smallish policewoman. The traffic lights had
stopped working so she was there to direct the
vehicles at her own discretion. It was interesting
to see how cars would come to a complete stop
as she lifted her hands and indicated and how
others would pass as she waved them to do so.
Her age, height, gender or color did not matter
every driver obeyed her because of her uniform.
What would have happened if she were wearing
an ordinary dress instead of her police uniform?
No one would have stopped at this rush hour
and the results would have been chaotic. But
she was vested with authority from the Police
As believers in Christ Jesus, we are empowered
and vested with His authority not to display
arrogance but to be totally dependent upon the
Lord and take command of every situation of
our lives.
Jesus said, "Behold, I give unto you power to
tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all
the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by
any means hurt you". (Like 10:19)
Whether you have been a Christian for many
years or you have just recently become born
again, it is time to start exercising our God-given
PRAYER: Father, I possess the authority given
me through the blood of Jesus to trample upon
serpents and scorpions.
